PHILIPSBURG--The Executive Council took a decision Tuesday which will reportedly result in disciplinary measures against Director of ROB Sector Joseph Dollison and Head of Maintenance Claudius Buncamper.

The Executive Council also decided to put a management team in place temporarily to run the department.

Although no member of the council could be reached for comment, The Daily Herald understands that Commissioner of Public Works Theo Heyliger was the only member to oppose the decision, leading to a heated exchange in the Executive Council meeting Tuesday.

Reliable sources indicated that the decision involves suspension of both Dollison and Buncamper, with one ultimately being reassigned and the other sent home. Whatever the decision ends up being, Dollison and Buncamper will probably take the Island Government to court.

Both have stated in the past that should the Executive Council seek any disciplinary measures based on the SOAB report, they would immediately start legal proceedings. They are of the opinion that the SOAB report is based on assumptions and hearsay and is therefore not credible.

Heyliger had stressed in the past that he is not in favour of punishing anyone, especially if the very same committee that the Executive Council appointed to determine if any measures should be taken recommended not to do so. Despite arguing this case again, he was voted down by the members of the National Alliance.

When contacted for comment a few weeks ago about the committee's report, Commissioner William Marlin declined to comment. He only stated that the situation is complicated and he wants to guard against being misquoted. He has not commented on the report since and efforts to reach him Wednesday proved futile.

Heyliger, Dollison and Buncamper were also not available for comment on Thursday.
