COLE BAY--Yacht Captain T.F.D. was arrested for gun possession and accused of physically assaulting a man T.E.W. on Friday, around 1:00am.
Police were called to the Port de Plaisance yacht docks, where T.E.W., who had a visible wound on his face, accused the Marlena captain of ill-treating him.
Police said T.E.W. also reported that there were several firearms aboard the vessel. In his defence, T.F.D. reportedly told the police that T.E.W. had assaulted him first. He denied having firearms on the vessel and contended that if there were any firearms on the yacht, he had no knowledge of them.
The police reported that after contacting and receiving permission from the Acting Prosecutor, officers searched the vessel and their search resulted in the discovery and confiscation of one double-barrel shotgun, two revolvers and 116 bullets.
T.F.D. was arrested for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, ill-treatment and making threats. He was taken to the police headquarters in Philipsburg, where he is being held for questioning.
The weapons and ammunition were confiscated for further investigation.
