PHILIPSBURG--A school bus incident resulted in the wounding of two secondary school students Monday morning.
J.H., one of the injured teens, was wounded on his left hand and on his back just below his neck. Officers described J.H.'s bleeding as significant. Admitting to feeling quite weak, he was taken to St. Maarten Medical Center, where he remains under observation.
The second injured student S.E. was cut between the fingers of her left hand. Police did not identify the weapon, but reported that it had been confiscated.
Police spokesman Inspector Ricardo Henson reported that a Philipsburg police patrol had been directed to Sundial School in Philipsburg, where the school bus on which the incident had occurred was stationed, around 6:45am Monday.
Investigating officers spoke first to the bus driver, who confirmed that three passengers had been involved in a physical altercation. The three were still aboard when officers arrived. The believed aggressor K.R. was placed in police custody and transported to the Philipsburg police station for questioning.
Detectives are investigating the reason for the incident.
