MARIGOT--A 19-year-old suspect was detained Wednesday afternoon for an attempted homicide in French Quarter.
The Gendarmerie indicated two individuals were quarrelling and fighting at 9:30am. The younger of the two left the scene signalling his intention to return with a gun. He returned and fired a shot at the 25-year-old individual he was arguing with as he was getting into his car to go home. The victim was wounded in the left shoulder and taken to hospital. An investigation into the incident has been opened.
And in the early morning hours of Thursday, two Chinese grocery stores located on opposite sides of the RN7 in French Quarter near the Coralita Road turning were broken into and robbed. Both stores had their security shutters, entrances or windows damaged. Items including alcohol, Nido milk, Pampers etc. were reportedly stolen.
Commandant Stéphane Brunet confirmed the break-ins, adding that both premises were unoccupied at the time. Gendarmes were on the scene at 8:00am conducting their investigation.
