The remnants of what was once Tropical Storm Gaston came blowing in on St. Maarten Tuesday morning, knocking down several political billboards that were recently replaced after being removed for the passing of Hurricane Earl last week. Some billboards from the Democratic Party (DP), the United People's (UP) party and the National Alliance (NA) were blown over or ripped from their frames. Photos show billboards from two of the three parties. The UP billboards knocked over by the winds in Belvedere were quickly replaced by party maintenance crew while the others were replaced during the day. Concordia Political Alliance (CPA) is the fourth party vying for seats in the new 15-member Parliament of Country St. Maarten. Elections are on September 17. John Halley photos
