PHILIPSBURG--The public can view projects of the 16th Annual Science Fair Competition at Belair Community Centre, today, Saturday from 10:00am to 2:00pm.
The competition was judged Thursday night, and was viewed by various schools around the island on Friday.
The highlight is today when all entrants get the chance to present their projects to the public and, later, when they find out who the winners are.
Science Fair Committee president Benson Pompier said six schools are taking part in the competition this year. He said the entries have to be seen to be believed.
"There is a strong bias towards technology, there are entries of environmental projects and there are a few surprises," said Pompier.
The winners will be announced today during an awards ceremony starting at 7:00pm. The winners of the 2010 Science Fair Poster Contest will also be announced.
An impromptu ceremony was held Wednesday to thank the five main sponsors - Windward Islands Bank, TelEm Group, Nagico, Oro Diamante, and Sagicor. "There have been times when we feared we could not continue to stage this very important event for our youth and schools, but thankfully because of these sponsors and others who have assisted over the years, we have been able to continue and to showcase the real talent in our community and schools," said the Science Fair Committee president.
