Two persons arrested for shooting incident

MARIGOT--Gendarmes have detained two individuals, both 20-years-old, for their part in a violent altercation in Grand Case on Wednesday, July 28, that led to two persons being hospitalised with shotgun wounds.

The lives of the two victims are not in danger.

The incident occurred at 1:00pm on Rue des Écoles where three individuals were engaged in a heated argument over repairs to a scooter that led to one of the individuals grabbing a hammer and inflicting a blow on the head of his antagonist.

The victim left the scene of the argument and returned shortly afterwards armed with a shotgun, and accompanied by a friend who was brandishing another weapon.

The one with the shotgun then fired towards the two persons he was having the argument with before the pair fled the scene. The Fire Brigade in the meantime transported the two victims to hospital.

Gendarmes launched an immediate search and apprehended the shooter that same evening. His accomplice was arrested the next morning - Thursday. Both are in custody as the investigation continues.
