Flamingo, Royal Palm
again get top awards

PHILIPSBURG--Hurricanes José and Lenny haven't prevented Flamingo and Royal Palm Sunterra Resorts from being presented the Gold Crown Awards, the highest award of Royal Condominium International (RCI), for the fifth consecutive year.

All employees of the resorts gathered at Flamingo yesterday to celebrate with Sunterra Resorts' Assistant Vice President for the Caribbean, Michael Griffith who presented the highest awards given by RCI.

The Gold Crown awards are given to those resorts worldwide that have exceeded a level of excellence in the vacation ownership industry. A press release from the company stated that this year's awards underscored a very special achievement, as 1999 had presented the industry with a myriad of challenges, "including visits of two very unwelcome guests, José and Lenny."

According to the release, however, management and staff of both resorts demonstrated resilience and determination to maintain the high level of excellent service, which the resorts have been rewarded for since 1995.

Griffith called it a pleasure and an honour to be the one presenting the awards to the resorts' staff. "What you did here was unbelievable," he said.

And, as Flamingo was celebrating its award, management announced that it would soon open the new Hillside Villas at Flamingo. The addition of these villas brings to 216 the number of villas and suites at the resort.
