ANGUILLA--The visit of His Royal Highness Prince Andrew, Duke of York, to Anguilla is on March 14 and 15 and his itinerary was announced by the Governor's Office on Tuesday, February 29.
The Duke of York will arrive at Wallblake Airport on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 14, where he will be met by Governor Peter Johnstone and government officials and will inspect a Guard of Honour of the Royal Anguilla Police Force.
His first visit will be to Wallblake House, where he will meet local artists and view the restoration project. He will then hand over the keys to the new Radio Anguilla "Outside Broadcast Car," which was funded by the British Good Government Fund.
The next visit will be to the Library and Teacher's Resource Centre, where he will be briefed on the aftermath of Hurricane Lenny, following which he will travel to North Side Village to meet residents of the flooded areas. There will be a reception at Government House for many citizens and government officials on Tuesday evening.
The Duke will visit the Environmental Health office and meet the children who are active in the glass recycling project on Wednesday morning. Albena Lake Hodge Comprehensive School will be the next stop, where the Prince will lay a cornerstone at the new campus site. He will have lunch at CuisinArt Hotel, hosted by the Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association, and will meet members of the award-winning Anguilla Culinary Team.
There will be visits to the Royal Anguilla Police Force Headquarters and the Offshore Finance Centre for a demonstration of the unique on-line business registration system of Anguilla's Commercial Online Registration Network (ACORN) in the afternoon.
The Duke will have dinner at Government House and leave Anguilla the next morning for Grand Turk.
The programme gives recognition to two industries that contribute significantly to Anguilla's economic development--tourism and financial services. It also recognizes the children of Anguilla and the people who suffered after Hurricane Lenny. Prince Andrew will have the opportunity to meet with many Anguillians at the Government House reception on March 14.
The Duke's visit to Anguilla is part of a visit to the Overseas Territories in the Caribbean that will include Anguilla, the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Montserrat and the Turks and Caicos Islands, between March 11 and 20.
