ANGUILLA-MAR29/01-"Above and Beyond-Anguilla Summer Festival 2001" has been declared the wining entry in the 2001 Summer Festival slogan competition. It was submitted by Ewart Warner of The Valley and selected from some twenty entries by the Executive Committee of the Anguilla Summer Festival.
Warner received a prize of EC $1,000. The slogan will be featured on all the promotional audiovisual and print material for the festivities.
The programme for the Summer Festival starts on Thursday, August 2 with the Grand opening of Carnival Village and ends on Sunday, August 12 with the Champion of Champions boat race at Sandy Ground.
A release from the Committee notes that a few minor changes have been made this year that it expects will result in a tighter, more successful programme. There will be a Band Festival on August 3 where fans will be given the opportunity to honour their favourite band.
Another addition is the Kidz Carnival which is on Sunday, August 5 and will feature all the usual attractions like face painting, clowns and horseback rides as well as the Prince and Princess Show and the Junior Calypso competition. There will be two evenings dedicated to international guest artists.
