Christmas music ushers
in the holiday season

PHILIPSBURG--Christmas music emanating from the Courthouse is filling Philipsburg for the enjoyment of visitors and residents alike.

While the town may not be decked out in festive lights and tinsel, the music, provided by Scorpio's Music Store and supported by the good spirits of several stores such as Boolchands, is spreading holiday warmth, according to Commissioner Michael Ferrier.

He expressed thanks to the Central Government for allowing the annual hookup of the music system to the Courthouse.

Meanwhile, asked if the town will be decorated, Public Works Commissioner Roy Marlin said he was not aware of any such request's being lodged with his department. However, the decorating of Philipsburg will definitely be welcomed by him.

The merchants association took the initiative to put up decorations in past years. Since these decorations were used for several years, the state they are in now is not known, Marlin added.

On the French side, colourful lights in the form of shooting stars and flowers have been gracing the light posts for a few weeks now.
