St. Maarten Salsa Escape to
be promoted in Puerto Rico
PHILIPSBURG--St. Maarten Salsa Escape and the island in general will be promoted at Wyndham El San Juan Hotel and Casino in Puerto Rico, where the Puerto Rico Salsa Open 2004 is being held July 26-31.
St. Maarten Salsa Escape, a five day event, is slated at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort and Casino for November 17-21. It will feature some of the best salsa instructors in the world and daily pool parties with international DJs from New York City, the Netherlands and Philadelphia.
Grammy nominated and Billboard New Latin Artist award winner Spanish Harlem Orchestra will also be on the island for the first time for a performance in Casino Royale Theatre.
During the Salsa Open in Puerto Rico, a video of the island will be shown at the St. Maarten Salsa Escape booth for all participants. The Salsa Open is the only event endorsed by the International Salsa Bureau (ISB) and acknowledged by affiliated dance schools, groups and instructors worldwide.
Salsa Escape promoters Ronny Busby and Henry Knowles say the Puerto Rico Salsa Open 2004 is the most prestigious international salsa dance contest, with the highest levels of professionalism and credibility. It is open to all nationalities, cultures and countries, with more than 5,000 dance and music lovers flocking to Puerto Rico for the event every year.
Puerto Rico is not the first place St. Maarten Salsa Escape will be promoted. Last week the event was promoted in Hamburg, Germany, with flyers and via the Website

"Potential first time visitors are already signing up for the great packages available at Sonesta Maho Resort for the event. St. Maarten is a great place to escape to and we will be creating a new event for visitors to enjoy in November to jump start the season early," Knowles said.
There are also local packages and rates for the event, said Busby. "We have been working on getting top entertainers in the salsa world to the island for years and this year, with the help of Saro Spadaro Jr., the event will be top class."
After the Puerto Rico Open, St. Maarten Salsa Escape will be promoted in Curaçao and Sicily in August, and Eilat, Israel, and Butline, United Kingdom, in September.
