St. Maarten Park gets
NAf. 40,000 in funding

MADAME ESTATE--St. Maarten Zoological Foundation has received a NAf. 40,000 grant from the Antillean Co-Financing Organisation AMFO to improve the animal exhibit signage in St. Maarten Park.

The foundation will be working closely with St. Maarten Park management to carry out the project for which the funding was allotted. The main project, an entirely new system of signage around the park, is already on the way, foundation Public Relations Officer Barbara Cannegieter said in a press statement.

The animal exhibits will all have colourful educational signs with information about each animal. There will also be signs identifying various plant species to be found in the park.

An Arawak camp and explorer huts, all focused on nature conservation and heritage, are part of the planned project. A vegetable garden that will provide an interactive experience and teach the visitor about how to grow plants and about the interaction between flora and fauna is another project. These projects will be completed over the next nine to 10 months.
