Winair starts air, ocean
cargo services from USA
SIMPSON BAY--Windward Islands Airways International Winair says it will be starting air and ocean cargo services between the United States and St. Maarten with connections to all Winair routes.
The launching of these services will mark “an historic event in the history of Winair,” company managing director Edwin Hodge said in a press statement. The service will allow businesses and residents of all islands in the Winair network to purchase products directly from the US and have items shipped throughout the network to the air- or seaport of their choice.
The new operation will entail the opening up of 11 new cargo and sales offices and a warehouse in the USA.
Winair signed a contract recently with Globe Air Cargo and Carib-Link Services with bases in Miami, New York City, Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Boston, Houston, Washington and Baltimore. “This places Winair in all major US cities and through Globe Air Cargo and Carib-Link Services we can arrange for nationwide pick-ups, including Canada,” Hodge explained.
This new operation will be an extension to the St. Maarten operation and will open up many new cargo and shipping opportunities for the businesses and people in the Winair network, he said.
All business and personal products bought in the US can be shipped to the Winair warehouse in Miami. Winair can provide all buyers with a phone number and e-mail address to facilitate the purchasing of their products of choice from the US.
Winair, as one of the oldest and safest Caribbean regional airlines for the past 44 years, looks forward to providing this unique service to the businesses and people in its network, Hodge said.
