Dutch have received
answer, says Duncan

PHILIPSBURG--The Netherlands Antilles’ response to the Dutch paper Partners in the Kingdom has reached Dutch politicians in The Hague. However, there have been constant comments from the Dutch Government stating that they haven’t received any answer from the Netherlands Antilles.

Constitutional and Home Affairs Minister Roland Duncan double-checked whether an answer had been sent to the Dutch government. “I understood that the answer reached the Netherlands. I don’t know if this is a game the Dutch are playing,” Duncan told The Daily Herald.

He said the response had been forwarded to the Dutch representative in the Netherlands Antilles during Dutch Administrative Reform and Kingdom Relations Minister Atzo Nicolaï’s visit to the Netherlands Antilles. However, because he had been constantly reading about the Dutch Government’s not receiving the answer; he double-checked whether the response indeed had been received.

The remarks about not having received the answer sparked rumours that the Dutch Government was trying to say it wouldn’t accept the answer. “That is maybe indeed the case. Maybe they want to say that they don’t agree with the answer received. I don’t know exactly what the reason is,” Duncan said.
