‘Double for your trouble’
prayer meeting Friday
PHILIPSBURG--“Double for Your Trouble” is the theme of the God Answers Prayer (GAP) Ministries’ seventh annual all-night women’s prayer meeting, which will be held at New Testament Baptist Church in Philipsburg on Friday, October 13, from 10:00pm to 6:00am.
GAP Founder and President Sharon van Arneman said the theme had been inspired by the seventh verse of the 61st chapter of the Book of Isaiah, which reads, “Instead of their shame my people will receive a ‘double portion,’ and instead of disgrace they will rejoice in their inheritance; and so they will inherit a ‘double portion’ in their land, and everlasting joy will be theirs.”
GAP Ministries was first established in St. Croix, USVI, on August 27, 1997.
When Van Arneman came to St. Maarten in 2000, she held the first annual all-night women’s prayer meeting in October of that year under the theme: “Out of the Depths.” Some 60 women attended the first night of prayer. Since then, with the exception of 2005, all-night prayer meetings have continued each October, Van Arneman said in a press release.
She officially founded GAP Ministries in St. Maarten on August 29, 2001.
GAP recently celebrated its fifth anniversary with a women’s prayer breakfast at La Terrasse Restaurant, Princess Port De Plaisance. Some 126 women and teenage girls attended.
Van Arneman said GAP Ministries had grown to include the entire family in its sphere of ministry. One very vital aspect of GAP Ministries is its commitment to the younger generation, she said.
“Great emphasis is placed on reaching today’s children and youth,” she noted. “Consequently, GAP Ministries has established a unique and very relevant mentorship programme to maximise the impact of its ministry to today’s younger generation.”
She continued: “This ministry was founded on prayer and, true to its name, prayer remains the heartbeat of God Answers Prayer Ministries. GAP Ministries very firmly believes that everything can be affected by prayer.”
Women of all ages, including teens, are invited to attend the annual all-night women’s prayer meeting this Friday.
