Oddyssey is entered in
best new artist contest

PHILIPSBURG--Local hip-hop group Oddyssey has returned from a one-month- long tour in the United States and has been entered into a worldwide new artist contest called “How Down Is Your Sound” in which it is currently in 77th place among more than 1,631 listed new artists.

The group of young St. Maarteners is the only Caribbean group participating in the competition. It was entered after being recognised as a group of “up and coming” new artists during its tour in Atlanta, Georgia, where it performed at different functions.

The group is excited about the possibility of being rated in the top 10, as it would mean a chance to compete for a US $50,000 prize and a recording contract. To accomplish this goal the local artistes are counting on the support of their fans and the general public who can vote for their four songs online by logging on to www.howdownisyoursound.com.

The contest is organised by well-known American radio personality Ryan Cameron of 103.3FM in Atlanta and the judges who will select a winner from among the 10 best artists are Ludacris, Dallas Austin, Block and Sean Garret.

The voting period started on August 9 and will end on October 25. The process to vote, according to the three singers, is very simple: Just log on to the Website, create an account, return to first page, select “vote now” and enter the word ODDYSSEY in the search bar, and select their songs when they appear by choosing “Yes.”

Anyone needing more assistance with voting can contact Legacy at 581-4581, X-Rey at 581-3069 or Danger at 522-8191.
