‘Exotic dancer’ found
murdered in brothel
PHILIPSBURG--For the second time this year a woman has been found dead after reportedly being sexually assaulted with a foreign object.
This time this time the victim is a 30-year-old woman who arrived on the island just under two weeks ago and started working at local brothel La Petite Chateau, where she was found dead on Saturday around 1:15am.
This brings the number of homicides for the year so far to 14.
The latest victim has been identified as Reina Peres Familia, born in the Dominican Republic on February 7, 1976. She arrived on the island on October 18, and started working at the brothel. She was found dead in her room by a security guard after he was alerted by one of her colleagues.
Police spokesman Chief Inspector Humphrey “Boyd” Giterson said the victim’s body had been confiscated for a post mortem.
The first woman to be killed in a similar manner this year was French national Angelique Chauvire (30), who was found dead in the bushes in Dawn Beach on Friday, June 2, around 11:00am. She was the eighth person to be killed for the year on the Dutch side and her murder is still being investigated.
Giterson said police officers had been called to the scene and told that a woman had just been killed. On arrival they found the victim naked on the bed, showing no signs of life.
A doctor was summoned to the scene and after examining the body pronounced her dead. There were marks around her neck that suggested to detectives that she might have been strangled.
It is not yet clear whether authorities suspect who the killer is. Many speculated that one or more people might have seen her leave the brothel’s bar.
