InselAir now to
fly for NAf 270
AIRPORT--Following the new request by Dutch Antilles Express (DAE) to fly between Curaçao and St. Maarten for NAf. 270, after the Aviation Department prohibited the airline from selling tickets for NAf. 200, InselAir has decided to match the 270-guilder rate
In a press release InselAir said it was always in the interest of the passenger when there were more airlines operating within the Netherlands Antilles. “By promoting a healthy competition there will definitely be attractive prices and a variety of air connections.”
InselAir said it had always fully embraced this point of view, but “the recent dumping of the prices by the Bonairean airline DAE is quite something else and cannot be considered as normal competition. It means that this company is not confronting the competition in a healthy manner. It is only trying to get InselAir out of the market by dumping the prices.
“If it is allowed that the competition is wiped out in this manner, the results will be obvious. There will be only one company left that will be a monopoly and that will again choose to file for very high tariffs in the market.
“In the past years the Bonairean DAE has not done anything to introduce better tariffs in the market. And since InselAir’s presence in the market it is using all ways and means to get back its position of a monopoly. This can never be in the interest of our passengers.
“Therefore InselAir is satisfied to see that government has stipulated new policies as of January 10, 2007, in which it is clearly stipulated that under no circumstances may any airline operate below cost. Of course, the government was right acting severely against the introduction of price dumping by the Bonairean DAE, which is completely against this new policy of the Government.”
Meanwhile, the authorities have promised to supply the exact content of this new policy by March 19, prohibiting airlines from operating below cost.
InselAir said its growing very motivated group of employees had been celebrating the fact that in a short period of time the company started flights to its ninth destination: the Dominican Republic.
“InselAir has a team of very experienced mechanics, pilots with more than 3,000 flight hours on the MD-80 type and a very broad educated and service-minded cabin staff, while the instructors have experience in all areas of the MD-80 and other types of aircraft. InselAir can consider itself one of the few new airlines in the Caribbean with such an experienced staff.
“Due to the positive development of InselAir and because of the recently announced government policy against price-dumping and in order to offer to all our passengers the opportunity to get acquainted with the new dimension in our services, InselAir will introduce a new promotion tariff of 270 Antillean guilders as of February 26, 2007.”
The airline said its shareholders had decided to reserve extra financial means to finance these temporary low tariffs, which in fact are below cost.
“During these promotion flights InselAir will continue with its promotional activities on which InselAir, UTS and Fun miles will make available attractive prices for our passengers on every flight.”
