Friendly Island a hit
at Times travel show

PHILIPSBUR/NEW YORK--Over 100 tour operators and 1000 potential guests visited the St. Maarten/St. Martin booth at the New York Times Trade Show recently.

The travel show, held in New York’s Jacob Javits Center, is the largest consumer travel exposition in the northeast. St. Maarten was represented at this huge exposition to convince travellers it is the most ideal destination for their next vacation experience.

Representing the island were US based island marketing manager Erica Fortuno, island US representatives Stephan Ferrier and Elsie Marishaw, Claudio Buncamper and Edwin Hodge of Windward Islands Airways International (Winair) as well as hoteliers and island US marketing agency: RFC&P.

Fortuno said, “Everyone was very excited to have us participate as one destination. Most of the trade community was extremely interested in the island’s recent renovations, updates and, of course, new properties.”

Roughly 1000 potential visitors to the destination crowded the trade show booth to learn more about the diverse offering of the island. Many of those familiar with the island inquired about the new Westin and Radisson Hotels, new restaurants and shopping deals.

“It was an extremely successful exposition for us,” said Fortuno. “We believe that our new marketing initiatives will only help to bring more travellers to the island than ever before.”
