Govt requests NAf. 50M
from Europe for poverty
PHILIPSBURG--The Central Government has submitted a request with the European Union for NAf. 50 million for combating poverty and upgrading of districts, Prime Minister Emily de Jongh-Elhage announced.
It concerns districts that are not being provided for by the Social Safety Net or the projects funded by the Dutch Funding Agency USONA. The Prime Minister said in addition that she hoped the request would be approved soon.
The Prime Minister did not disclose which districts would be eligible to receive extra financial aid and what the division among the different islands would be.
