St. Maarten receives award
for efficient port services
POINTE BLANCHE/St. Maarten--Influential cruise industry magazine Dream World Cruise Destinations has recognised Dr. A.C. Wathey Cruise and Cargo Facilities for providing the most efficient port services in the region.
St. Maarten Ports Authority (SMPA) Deputy Managing Director Vanessa Williams received a plaque from Dream World Cruise Destinations representatives at Sea Trade Cruise and Shipping Convention in Miami, Florida, earlier this month.
The certificate of achievement is given out based on feedback from the cruise and cargo lines and cruise executives. The most efficient combination of pilotage, port agency services, Customs clearance and good working relations with the operations departments of cruise lines is taken into account when selecting an awardee.
“The employees and all those other port organisations have all played a role in the Port of St. Maarten being recognised and rewarded for a job well done,” Williams said on Thursday.
The US magazine gives out annual awards to cruise destinations in several categories. It is a guide to new and traditional cruise destinations, providing valuable information on ports throughout the world.
