Quad bike rider killed
in La Savane accident
MARIGOT--A second quad bike accident, occurring just four days after Cornelius Heemskerk’s death in Point Pirouette, has claimed the life of a Guadeloupe man, the Gendarmerie reported Thursday.
The accident happened on the main RN7 road in La Savane at 10:20pm on Wednesday. The quad driver R.R. (25) of Petit Bourg, Guadeloupe, apparently lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a wall close to the road. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. No other details were given.
In a separate incident, a minor accident occurred between two cars near École Couleurs in La Savane on Tuesday evening at 7:00pm. No injuries were reported. According to the report, H.M. (40) of Colombier lost control of her vehicle. She was breathalysed by a Gendarmerie patrol and a blood test at the hospital further confirmed that her alcohol content was over the legal limit allowed.
In a court appearance set for July 5 she will face charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving recklessly.
