Local search engine gives St. Maarten
St. Martin international attention
PHILIPSBURG--Since the inception of the Internet, search engines have been predominantly globally based, with the intent of giving product and service information of major companies, but now St. Maarten can boast its own local search engine.
According to a press release St. Maarten/St. Martin’s own ZebraBot.com was contacted by a producer for WLNY-TV55 which is the largest independent television station in the USA reaching over 24 million people (5.5 million homes). WLNY-TV55 is one of the most frequently watched T.V. stations in the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut).
The producer has expressed interest in a selection of ZebraBot’s island-produced videos for presentation on WLNY-TV55’s new show “Quick Flix.” According to the release, ZebraBot has selected 14 of their videos and uploaded them to WLNY-TV55’s website.
ZebraBot has a scroll-down listing of all videos that have been produced locally, some of which are regarded as information while others are regarded as island events and some just plain fun.
ZebraBot director Len Schultz says, “This came from out of the blue but with all of the attention we have been getting it was bound to happen.” He said the producer got interested in the search engine after viewing it on line.
He said, “ZebraBot is proud of getting such attention, not only for ourselves but for those sorts of opportunities to help promote our beautiful island and its many attractions and businesses.”
