Richards hails compliance
with new traffic regulations

PHILIPSBURG--Local Chief of Police Lt. Governor Franklyn Richards said he was very pleased with the way the motorist community has been complying with the new traffic regulations which include mandatory wearing of seatbelts.
Richards told the Government Information Service (GIS) on Sunday that quite evidently, since August 1, more persons have been wearing their seatbelts and this is a sign of compliance. However, he is concerned with the two recent hit-and-run cases.
Aggressive driving behaviour comes in many forms: speeding, driving too close to the car in front, ignoring traffic rules and improper lane changing or weaving, he said. Most people drive aggressively from time to time and many drivers are not even aware when they are doing it, according to Richards.
“I appeal to drivers to follow the rules and regulations when it comes to driving a motorised vehicle. You are not the only one on the road.
There are other vehicles as well as pedestrians. Consideration must be given to all. Let’s keep our road ways safe by driving in a responsible manner and obeying the laws of the land,” Richards said.
