KLM to increase
its fuel surcharge
AMSTERDAM--Dutch airline KLM is to raise its fuel surcharge by five euros on intercontinental flights and one euro on European routes as from today, Wednesday.
KLM said it is being forced to increase the levy because of higher fuel cost. The fuel surcharge will now be 70 euros on intercontinental tickets and 25 euros for European destinations.
Earlier on Tuesday, Air France-KLM announced a 4.6 per cent increase in passengers in July compared with the same month last year. Some 7.2 million people flew with Air France-KLM last month. The occupancy level on planes rose by one percentage point to 86.2 per cent.
