Bids opened for Belvedere
infrastructure upgrading

PHILIPSBURG--Two major contractors in St. Maarten submitted a bid for the upgrading of the infrastructure in Belvedere. The bids were opened at the Environmental Development & Property management ROB office on Tuesday.

Head of New Projects Development and Planning Kurt Ruen told The Daily Herald that MNO Vervat/Koop St. Maarten and Windward Roads had submitted a bid for NAf. 3,107,712 and NAf. 2,068,448.60 respectively, according to the tender documents. Both companies submitted an alternative bid as well, Ruen said.

The bids will be evaluated after which an awarding advice will be issued for final approval by Dutch Funding Agency USDONA and the Executive Council. “The intention is to have the entire process finalised within four weeks.”

Bids for construction management and supervision of the project were also opened yesterday. Three companies submitted bids: “ICE submitted a bid for NAf. 51,500; Levense Consulting Engineers submitted a bid for 48,173; and CSM N.V. submitted a bid for NAf. 52, 747,” Ruen said. Here too he said that the aim is to have a final approval for awarding within four weeks.
