online at 10:00am today
NEW YORK--Travellers seeking a low airfare between New York and St. Maarten can book online with JetBlue Airways as of 10:00am today to lock in a US $318 round trip fare.
The low-cost carrier late last night officially announced its daily non-stop service to St. Maarten starting January 17 and to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic on January 10.
The flights will depart New York for St. Maarten at 9:35am and arrive at 2:40pm. The return flights will leave the island at 3:35pm and arrive in New York at 7:05pm. Tickets can be booked at
www.jetblue.com . An additional US $10 is charged for tickets booked over the phone, at the airport or at ticket offices.
The daily flights will be carried out with the airline’s modern Airbus A320 fleet, which the airline says features all-leather seating and the most legroom in coach (based on average fleet-wide seat pitch for U.S. airlines), complimentary first-run movies and bonus features from FOX InFlight™ on JetBlue’s signature seatback televisions.
“Customers have been asking for more JetBlue flights to the Caribbean and we’re pleased to add service to St. Maarten and Puerto Plata, two of the most beautiful spots in the region,” JetBlue’s Vice President of Network Planning Marty St. George was quoted as saying.
He added, “With JetBlue, customers enjoy award-winning in-flight entertainment, generous name-brand snacks, and top-notch customer service – all at some of the lowest fares around. We think the flight should be as good as the destination. On your next trip to the Caribbean, we invite you to experience all that flying should be.”
JetBlue Manager Corporate Communications Sebastian White told The Daily Herald, “The Caribbean has really embraced JetBlue’s higher standard of service, and we're thrilled to introduce St. Maarten to our network.”
“JetBlue’s tremendous success flying from New York to the Caribbean is a testament to the affordable, high-quality service that has made the airline a must for New Yorkers visiting relatives or hoping for a relaxing vacation at the beach,” said New York senior US Senator Charles Schumer. “The expanded service to St. Maarten and Puerto Plata promises the same exceptional service for thousands of New Yorkers eager to fill the seats to visit loved ones or travel to new destinations.”
“I am so pleased that JetBlue is continuing their commitment to bringing New Yorkers more access to low-cost travel options by offering this new service between JFK and the Caribbean,” said Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. “This is particularly welcome news for many New Yorkers in our Caribbean community who are looking for affordable air fare options so they can visit family and friends back home.”
St. Maarten Tourism Commissioner Roy Marlin said, “JetBlue customers will soon discover that St. Maarten is the best leisure destination in the region, offering 37 beaches, more than 400 restaurants with Gold Award winning chefs, exceptional entertainment and nightlife as well as a myriad of accommodations to fit any lifestyle – all in a safe, friendly, cosmopolitan environment.”
St. Maarten Hospitality and Trade Association President Emil Lee welcomed JetBlue. “We are totally committed to this win-win partnership that will bring great value to St. Maarten, JetBlue and our customers. JetBlue’s business model of low-cost flights with great service will make travel between the United States and St. Maarten much more accessible for both the residents of St. Maarten and visitors from the United States.”
With St. Maarten and Puerto Plata added to its itinerary, JetBlue will service 11 destinations in the Caribbean as of January 2008.
