Employers encouraged to sign up
workers for Caribcert programme

PHILIPSBURG--Employers on the island interested in upgrading the skills of their workers are asked to sign them up for the Caribcert certification programme.

Caribcert is an established certification course, recognized throughout the Caribbean. In St. Maarten it is funded by the Dollar-A-Day programme. Several courses in the hospitality field are offered under the programme which is available to employees of the Dollar-A-Day properties at no cost. However, non Dollar-A-Day properties will be charged a fee of US $160 per employee.

“We would like you to encourage your staff to attend these courses to become Caribcert certified,” St. Maarten Hospitality and Trade Association (SHTA) said in a press release on Wednesday.

The courses are being executed by the Caribbean Institute for Social Education Foundation – the training arm of the Windward Islands Federation of Labour (WIFOL). The courses will be held at the WIFOL Building.

The Supervisory/Core Management course will begin on March 12. Additional information can be obtained from Robert Dubourcq at E-mail: rdubourcq@shta.com.
