USM looking
for new Dean
PHILIPSBURG--Academic Dean is one of four senior positions University of St. Martin (USM) is hoping to fill in coming months.
The university is also looking for a Financial Controller, an IT Director and a Librarian. Ads inviting suitable candidates to apply for these positions have been appearing in the local newspapers recently.
There were some 20 applicants for the Dean’s position up to yesterday, Tuesday, board Chairwoman Dr. Lockie Johnson said Tuesday. The University reportedly is saddened that incumbent Dean Maria Cijntje-van Enckevort is going on retirement.
In an advertisement that appeared on page 14 of Tuesday’s issue of The Daily Herald, the university said the person filling academic dean’s position would lead the Associate’s Degree programme in General Liberal Arts and Business through the accreditation process. The person will also be responsible for faculty development and development of the institution’s library, and may also be able to teach a class in which he or she is qualified.
A candidate should have excellent management skills, be a responsible, dedicated professional and have a strong sense of quality. The candidate should also hold a PhD or have previous experience as a Dean or Accreditation Officer.
Candidates can send their applications to USM President Josianne Fleming-Artsen at #1 University Boulevard.
