Major water plant upgrades
not expected to hamper supply
SIMPSON BAY--Residents all too familiar with low water pressure or no water through their taps at all, can rest easy because the upgrades to the Cay Bay water production units in the coming weeks are not expected to cut supply, Air-Fin Boss Willem Barendsen said Tuesday.

TOT increase proposal sent
to Saba, Statia for approval
PHILIPSBURG--To increase the Turnover Tax (TOT) from three to four per cent, Saba and St. Eustatius must also agree with the proposal made by St. Maarten.
If they do not agree, the law regulating the TOT will have to be amended, and that could take an additional six months, forcing the island of St. Maarten to make changes in its budget.

Service at PJIA embarrassing,
change attitude, says Rollocks
PHILIPSBURG--The level of service provided in St. Maarten should be much better, starting at the airport. Julian Rollocks, advisor to the St. Maarten Government and the Democratic Party faction in Parliament, told The Daily Herald it was not acceptable that in a public company such as Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA) one person behaved as though he or she had everything to say.

PHILIPSBURG--The discussions on the division of assets and liabilities among the islands of the Netherlands Antilles seem to be heading towards their final stages.
Minister of Finance Ersilia de Lannooy has already received the report on the division of assets and liabilities pertaining to Social Insurance Bank SVB and hopes to receive the general report on division of assets and liabilities by April 21.
