GEBE online utility bills
service grows in popularity
PHILIPSBURG--The online billing service of utility services GEBE has grown in popularity among subscribers since its soft launch in October 2007.
The company said about 1,500 subscribers in St. Maarten, Saba and St. Eustatius now receive their utility bills by e-mail and new applications for the service are being received daily.
“Customers already using E-Billing has called it a great service since it is free, easy and convenient. E-Billing can easily be combined with any of the remote payment options offered by GEBE such as payment online or automatic transfer, so customers can settle their utility bills without having to leave home, sit in traffic or stand in line,” the utilities company said in a press release over the weekend.
GEBE’s Managing Director William Brooks said he is very pleased that the service is developing so well.
“Our main focus where customer services are concerned is to make our services easier and more convenient. We do our very best to cater to our customers’ needs and to deal with the challenges that are brought forward.”
“The service started out with foreign-based clients who have a second home on the island and real estate agents who wanted to receive the bills via e-mail. It now has grown to the point where local customers are also requesting the online service.”
“Our clients like the speed, ease, accessibility and the ability to store the bills electronically. They can also use the online system of their bank to pay GEBE utility bills without even having to leave their home or office.
“This is one way to cut down on traffic congestion, limited parking and standing in the line to pay the bill. It also cuts down on the amount of paper that is used every month to print the bills, which is good for the environment,” GEBE’s Managing Director William Brooks stated.
GEBE’s new Corporate Communication Officer Giselle Dirckx-Williams is working with the ICT and Commercial Departments to introduce additional customer-oriented services. Other e-services are also planned for the company’s website such as viewing bills or applying for a meter from the comfort of the home, business or anywhere else in the world.
Registering for the E-Billing programme can be done by sending an e-mail to billing@nvgebe.com with the contract account number, the name on the account and the e-mail the bill should go to. As soon as the bills are made the client will receive it by e-mail, the release stated.
