Soualiga Patrol moves

PHILIPSBURG--A two-week dry run of the Voluntary Corps of St. Maarten’s “Soualiga Tower” started Monday ahead of the long-awaited official opening of the base of operations for the special Philipsburg VKS division at the end of the month, police reported.

PHILIPSBURG--Authorities have dismissed charges of rape against civil servant M.J. on the condition that he not have any contact with his estranged wife for at least two years, the Prosecutor’s Office reported Monday.

Bus tariff increase
to offset fuel price
WILLEMSTAD--In light of the rising cost of living and particularly the announced phased increase of the price of gasoline by a total of forty cents per litre and the price of diesel fuel, also phased, by a total of seventy cents, Curaçao’s Executive Council decided to ask the Antillean Ministry of Economic Affairs to increase the minimum wage on the island immediately by five per cent and adapt the bus tariffs.
