Admittance test results out
for MPC, Sundial School
SOUTH REWARD--Only 51 or a mere 15.84 per cent of the pupils who wrote the admittance test for Milton Peters College (MPC) and Sundial School qualified for admission to the top academic stream at the college – the HAVO/VWO or Senior Secondary Education stream - according to information provided by General Director Yvette Halley.
Some 322 pupils from nine elementary schools wrote the MPC and Sundial admittance test on May 7 and 8. Of that number, 13 or 4.04 per cent did not perform well enough to qualify for admission to either school.
Of the 322 pupils, 112 or 34.78 per cent - the largest group – qualified for admission to the VSBO-TKl or PSVE Theoretical stream.
The press release from Halley also shows that 97 pupils – or 30.12 per cent – qualified for admission to the VSBO-PKL or PSVE Practical stream while 49 pupils – or 15.22 per cent - qualified for the VSBO-PBL or PSVE Basic Practical stream.
Students who will attend Sundial school are selected from among those who qualify for admission to the VSBO-PKl and VSBO-PBL streams.
The nine elementary schools whose pupils wrote the admittance test were the Dr. Martin Luther King, Leonard Connor, Genevieve de Weever, Oranje, Sr. Regina, Sr. Borgia, Sr. Marie Laurence, Sr. Magda and Hillside Christian Schools.
Halley said the MPC’s Admittance Committee and representatives of the nine elementary schools met June 5 and 6 (last Thursday and Friday) prior to the release of the results.
There was no indication of the attainment level (pass mark) for any of the four streams. Neither was any information provided about the top achievers.
Last year, 316 pupils wrote the entrance test and eight could not be placed. On that occasion, 54 had qualified for HAVO/VWO, 123 for VSBO-TKL, 94 for VSBO-PKL and 49 for VSBO-PBL.
