Body of St. Kitts man
found in Concordia

~ Police probing two shooting incidents ~

CAY BAY--The French- and Dutch-side police are cooperating in investigations into two shooting incidents on the Dutch side Tuesday night as a result of which a corpse was found in Concordia on the French side yesterday morning.

The two shooting incidents are believed to be related and police are looking for a suspect, D.W. of St. Kitts, an occasional construction worker who reportedly not only threatened to kill his former girlfriend Nerisa Marsham and her family, but is being accused of firing gunshots at her Tuesday night shortly after having killed one of her cousins.

Dead is Warren Marsham (32) of St. Kitts, Nerisa’s cousin.

French-side Prosecutor Louvier confirmed that the body, which has been identified positively by the deceased’s wife Toya, was found lying in waste ground near power company EDF in Concordia around 7:00am yesterday.

Marsham was the father of two children, ages four months and six years. He worked as an engineer at the power plant at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort and Casino.

“He was found with a bullet entry wound in the head, indicating a gun was pointed directly to his head,” Louvier told The Daily Herald.

“Parts of his ears were missing and we are not sure whether this is because his ears had been deliberately cut or whether pigs had been eating the ears. His clothes were also in a dishevelled state,” said Louvier. He also explained that the preliminary findings indicate the man had been murdered on the Dutch side and the body taken to Concordia and dumped.

“An autopsy will be done on the body today and the file handed over to the Dutch-side prosecutor,” he said.

The deceased’s uncle told The Daily Herald last night that Marsham had driven to the Well Road area in Cole Bay and had left his wife and two children in the car while he went in search of a body-work man to pay a bill.

The family waited in the car for about an hour and the wife became worried, especially after hearing gunshots in the area and seeing two men “running down the road.”

Meanwhile, Dutch-side police confirmed yesterday that a detective patrol had been dispatched to Maracas Drive, Cay Bay, around 8:00pm Tuesday in connection with reports about a shooting incident

According to the reports, D.W. drove up to Nerisa’s father’s house, where she has been staying after ending their abusive relationship, and started firing shots at her. Residents on the scene that night said D.W. was the shooter and that anger over the break-up with Nerisa was the motive.

Police said Nerisa had been “having problems” with D.W. and that he had threatened to hurt her if she left him. She and her brother were just arriving home when occupants of a white car with tinted windows shot at them. The car had been parked across the street from their father’s home and sped off immediately after the shots were fired.
