Anguilla Police holding man
who says he is from Holland

ANGUILLA--The Royal Anguilla Police Force (RAPF) says it is holding a man who says he is from Holland and they are asking the public who might have information about him to give them a call.

According to an RAPF report, the force received a call on October 28, about a “suspicious person” in the Little Harbour area. The RAPF Task Force visited the area and arrested a man who gave his name as James Simmons and said he was from Holland. He gave his date of birth as December 25, 1978.

Later the same day the RAPF received a report that a jet ski had washed up on Elsie’s Bay beach near to Little Harbour. Officers responded and found a blue and white Yamaha jet ski on the beach which they took to the Valley Police Headquarters.

A jet ski’s key was found in the pocket of Simmons’ shorts, but on being questioned he said that he flew to St Maarten on a KLM flight then flew to Anguilla on a small plane.

However, according to police, there is no record of his entry into Anguilla.

The RAPF said the man has several tattoos on his body that hopefully may be recognized by someone in St. Maarten or Anguilla and the force is asking anyone who knows the man to contact them at 264-497-2333 or go to the website: www.gov.ai/911 and make a report.

RAPF also reported that it was working with St. Maarten police to try to confirm the man’s identity and to check on the jet ski owners who may have rented one to Simmons.

Simmons was taken before the court on November 4, and has been remanded to prison for one week while investigations take place.
