French Quarter Fête opens
St. Martin Day activities
MARIGOT--The opening of the French Quarter Fête tonight at 7:00pm in the Thelbert Carti Stadium ushers in a packed programme of activities, entertainment, and sports leading up to St. Martin Day on Tuesday, November 11.
The Eagles Band is scheduled to play at 8:00pm followed by the Grain D’Or Dancers at 9:30pm and Choir at 10:30pm.
Volleyball, Football, and Athletic competitions start on Saturday, November 8, from 8:00am in the sports complex. Entertainment begins at 5:00pm with steel pan music, dance groups, a performance by Tanny and the Boys, and other band performances.
The opening of the Rounders Regional Tournament begins at 7:00pm in Jean-Louis Vanterpool stadium in Marigot.
Sunday, November 9, sees the start of the 20K marathon beginning at 7:30am from Anse Margot and finishing in Thelbert Carti Stadium in French Quarter at approximately 9:30am.
Sports competitions (Volleyball, Rounders, Football, Basketball, and Athletics) will be held in Jean-Louis Vanterpool and Thelbert Carti stadiums from 9:30am Sunday. At 4:00pm there will be a cycle race for junior categories A and B.
Entertainment in the Thelbert Carti Stadium begins at 7:00pm with the Rhythms Band. A Juniors Football match starts at 6:00pm and over at Jean-Louis Vanterpool Stadium a Rounders match starts at 7:00pm.
The election of Miss Orleans will be held at 8:00pm on Monday, November 10.
On November 11 an Ecumenical Service will be held in the French Quarter Catholic Church at 9:30am. Wreath-laying takes place at the border monument at 11:00am followed by the start of the parade from the Brooks Carwash parking area. Speeches will be given by elected officials at 12:45 in Thelbert Carti Stadium.
Sporting events will continue throughout the day from 11:00am.
