Dear Editor,
Please allow me this space in your newspaper to address Mr. Louis Constant Fleming.
Mr. Louis Constant Fleming, please would you advise the St. Maarten people from both sides of our beautiful island why you are moving many of the historic walls and rocks from your land in Bellevue? Of course, this land is yours, and you are entitled to use it as you will. However, these walls are a piece of our heritage, built hundreds of years ago by many of our St. Maarten forefathers. With so few historical sites left in St. Maarten, we are left speechless and in shock at this destruction.
Please tell us that you are not truly removing these priceless stones and walls to fill in your land on the lagoon for an apartment complex as the rumours have it. As an intelligent man, you must surely see the grave consequences that this action would inflict on our environment.
Thank you in advance for your explanation.
