In reference to an article in The Daily Herald on February 2, 2010, "Heyliger questions why PJIA can't give back to community," it's a shame to know that our airport is Simpson Bay. I don't understand why or what is wrong with this island.
First of all, who does the airport belong to? Does it belong to the island, or is it belonging to Mr. Holiday? Who is his boss? Who gives him the right to do or say what he feels, with no regard at all to Simpson Bay?
Let me remind you, Sir, you may be sitting high up on your US $87 million airport office, but remember, tourists must pass through Simpson Bay. You seem to have no shame. Our road to and from your fancy, beautiful airport is a shame, and as for you Mr. Heyliger, how could you say that with limited funds you will try to find a solution for roads on Simpson Bay?
How come you have funds for 1. Ring Road, 2. A jetty at Sea Palace, 3. Soualiga Road, plus another roundabout, now you have funds for Middle Region? Shame, shame, and again shame on you. Remember that you have your business in Simpson Bay. It seems that's all that matters. Simpson Bay is the second city of St. Maarten.
Tourists don't see other parts of St. Maarten like Simpson Bay, so please both of you have some pride and dignity. Aren't you both sons of the soil?
E. Halley
