Dear Queenie,
My husband and I have been married for a few months but I don’t feel married at all. He still spends his free time the way he did before we were married, but not with me. He either goes into another room to watch TV alone or he goes out alone to a bar or disco. All he does at home is eat, sleep, watch TV and use the bathroom.
I know he loves me but I don’t know how long I can take living this way.
Queenie, what should I do?—Feeling alone
Dear Feeling alone,
You are alone. This is not a marriage, it is not even living together, it is just two people separately occupying the same living quarters.
You and your husband need to have a serious talk about what you expect from your marriage. Professional counselling might help each of you understand the other’s point of view.
Then you will have to decide whether you are willing to try to make this relationship work, or want to call an end to it.
