St. Maarten's Paul Dijkhoffz sees action with the Netherlands Antilles Hockey Team at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Puerto Rico. Netherlands Antilles will face Barbados in the consolation game for third place, Saturday after losing their semi-final match to Trinidad 5-0 yesterday. Trinidad was up 4-0 at the half. Four goals were netted on penalty corners and one from open play. "Our biggest problem was one of our key players (center half) was out with a hamstring injury. So we had a problem in building our plays from our half as Trinidad played full pressure. And with Trinidad's very skilled players, some of whom play in the EPL (Ed: English Premier League), we were pushed back a lot," said Dijkhoffz. "We only had one corner and one shot on goal." Mexico defeated Barbados 3-1 in the other semi. The winner of the third place match will qualify to compete at the Pan American Games which will be held in Mexico next year. Other Netherlands Antilles athletes medalled yesterday. The Men's track and field squad took bronze in the 4x100 meters while Ard van Aanholt earned bronze sailing in Laser Radials.
