~ New, fun and positive ~
High Schools of SXM, this is for you! If you didn't know before, a flash mob is a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, briefly perform an unusual and sometimes seemingly pointless act, often for purposes of entertainment, satire and artistic expression, and then disperse. Flash mobs are organized via telecommunications, social media or viral e-mails.
Sound interesting? This is already taking place, and all high-schools have received registration forms. So if you're only now hearing of it, you can still get involved. If you want to take part and haven't heard it from your teacher yet, just go to your school principal or art/music/craft teacher and make your plans to join in on the fun.
For this ongoing project, groups of high school students have been busy videotaping their routine and then placing it on YouTube. Additionally, as part of the video, students of each school create a motivational speech on why they believe their school should win the grand prize and say what they as a school will decide to do with the money. The winning school will be determined by the number of YouTube hits it receives.
The winner will be announced at an event that will first promote young talent on the island. After the winner is announced, everyone will do a big flash mob, this will be streamed live. This event, which began since January 4, will continue until March 4. Get involved! This is a great way to bring something new, different and positive to our island.
