~Celebrate for a great cause~
It's a Red Carpet Affair! Get ready to get interviewed on the carpet; dress to impress,
photographers, live stream on internet and more. But if you don't know who Fred York is, let's get to know him before we give more party details:
Drummer Fred York adds his own exciting beat to the beauty of his island. Father, mother, brothers and sisters are all locally well-known for their skills in playing the steel pan. While he can play the pan as well, from a young age Fred's love has gone to man's oldest percussion instrument: the drum. He was exposed to and influenced by different musical genres in the Caribbean Basin, which has undergone so many international influences.
To mention a few of the rhythms Fred enjoys and excels in:
- Spanish Caribbean: bachata, salsa, merengue, son montuno, reggaeton ...
- French Caribbean: zouk, kompa ...
- English Caribbean: soca, calypso, reggae ...
- United States: R&B, jazz, rock, hip hop, funk gospel ...
- Europe: drum & bass or jungle, house, rave ...
After his college years in the United States Virgin Islands Fred returned to St. Maarten/St. Martin to play in virtually every musical ensemble that exists here. Together with some raving reviews he received from the local press, this fuelled his appetite to develop his skills even more. While this development in music is ongoing, Fred knows he is more than ready to share his skills with the world.
"I think by being open minded and by being sensitive to the different musical genres I've been exposed to over the years, I can fit into any given musical situation," he says.
Today, Fred York is known as a first rate drummer, playing the multi-piece drum kit like no other in this Caribbean region. It's not only great fun to hear him playing, but also to watch him, especially when he is doing solo pieces. Juggling his drum sticks around his fingers and flawlessly catching them in mid air, he frequently jumps up from his stool while continuing to beat the bass drum, snares and cymbals at an incredible pace
"Champagne when you enter, I'm inviting everyone to my Birthday Bash 2012. All of my musician friends and I will be providing world class entertainment for you all night long while raising funds for the I CAN FOUNDATION," stated York.
The I CAN FOUNDATION takes care of kids whose parents either can't, won't or don't take care of their kids.
TV, radio, photographers and LIVE STREAM internet will all be broadcasting from the RED CARPET and the MAIN STAGE. So this year instead of just being a local and regional event, they'll be going GLOBAL! Tempo and Wazzup TV will be there filming the event.
Bamboo Bernie's will be catering, so expect the best sushi, 500 pieces of sushi rolls, 500 pieces of sate sticks. At the bar you pay regular price for drinks.
DRESS CODE for this evening will be ALL WHITE. A $10 donation will be collected at the entrance and will go DIRECTLY towards the I CAN FOUNDATION. "My party is already paid for, so all the funds will directly go to the I Can Foundation," said birthday boy Fred York proudly. There will be prizes, raffles and auctions offered all evening through the kind courtesy of special sponsors. Again the proceeds will all go towards the I CAN FOUNDATION.
WE WILL FEEL GREAT WHILE DOING GOOD. LET'S PARTY WITH A PURPOSE AND PROUDLY SAY "I CAN / I DID"!
