Friday, October 8: Princess Casino Fashion Show
This first event, which takes place at Princess Casino on Friday, October 8, is a HUGE Designer Fashion Show featuring some of our very own local designers as well as designers from other Caribbean islands and the United States. Models used for this fashion show will be LadyB's very own models, as these are well-known designers, who have wowed and pleased many folk with their up to the minute fashions, bring their expertise to St. Maarten:
Maza Rombley is a local designer who focuses on full-figured and curvy women using vibrant and colourful designs. After meeting with a prospective client, she will design something a bit more unusual than most, but these designs are still very wearable. Rombley likes to use fabrics she shops for in the States and Trinidad.
Judith Rawlins hails from St. Kitts. She is the designer of the "Brown Sugar" label, which is featured in some of the top fashion magazines in the Caribbean. Brown Sugar designs use bold combinations of colour with clean, architectural lines that are eminently suitable for the curves of the Caribbean woman.
Michelle Cole's label is "ColeFacts." Her list of achievements is vast and includes "Best gown award" in 1999 for Miss Guyana World, as well as many other high profile designs for pageant queens and international models. Her designs have taken her to the United States and around the Caribbean where she has featured at many events and shows. Whether she designs lines in black and white or fresh and bright, her clothes express comfort, vibrancy and beauty with her love of nature and all things natural evident in her designs.
Gerard Perry from Trinidad is one of the latest designers to hit the Trinidad and Tobago fashion scene in 2010. He uses fabric that includes metallic brocade tops, ivory silk-satin pants, graphic floral prints, textured fabrics and colourful animal prints. He accessorizes his pieces with feathered plumage, mahogany bracelets and necklaces and oversized floral headpieces, which he designs.
