Hard work and determination pay off!

This young woman is determined, poised and friendly. She has a maturity that is way beyond her years and that of most of her peers. Get to know this self-confessed neat-freak who balances a demanding job and the challenges of motherhood!

How long have you been living on the island?

I have been living here for more than 10 years.

Where did you attend school?

Ruby Labega Primary School, St. Maarten Academy and the University of St. Maarten.

Where do you work and what do you do for work?

I work as the Sales & Marketing Coordinator for B&C Beverages. My work entails creating events such as beach parties, volleyball tournaments, events that tie in with holidays such as Easter, Christmas, Carnival, etc.

What was the largest party you ever organized?

Easter 2011– the Corona Easter Egg party. It was large in terms of preparation on so many different levels, from the eggs to the entertainment, making sure everything starts on time and every other aspect of the organization.

What has been your favourite event so far?

Definitely the Cinco de Mayo party at Tequila Restaurant earlier this year because everybody really enjoyed it; there were so many activities, I had so much fun as well.

What are your hobbies?

Dancing, networking; I love spending time with my son.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I love to sing!

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I see myself owning my own company in 10 years – in the same field of marketing, advertising and promotion. This is a great job that I have and it really does pay off. I would like to let the girls out there know that there are many choices in careers here on St. Maarten. I plan to push more for that in the future by speaking especially to young women by visiting schools and holding workshops for students. The field I work in is male-dominated so far I have seen, but I am doing well and would like to see more women in my field!

You're a busy lady, how do you keep your energy up?

I work seven days a week, more like eight. So I definitely have this to say; "Take your vitamins!" I am very careful with my health, it is important to eat on time.

If you were to invite three famous people over for dinner, dead or alive, who would they be?

Bob Marley, because of his inspirational music; Halle Berry, because she is a strong woman even in the face of adversity; and Jennifer Hudson, of course, because of her wonderful talents. All of them are inspirational to me!
