You know Rosalie from her 2009 win of Miss Hawaiian Tropic SXM! She is 21 years old and living as a student in Den Haag since last year. Her hobbies are swimming, dancing and singing. She has recently been stacking up the modelling gigs and the latest is a chance to be on Holland's Next Top Model! Learn all about her representing SXM in this week's Hotseat!

How long ago did you move to the Netherlands?

I moved last year.

What are you studying and why did you choose that study?

I'm studying Safety and Security Management. I decided to take this course because I'm very interested in criminology and psychology, which are the courses I'm taking right now.

What are some challenges up there for you?

I'm alright; just here trying to manage school and modelling at the same time, but I'm mostly focused on my school. I try and I try. I never was a pageant girl; before I was a goth girl. It's my wonderful cousin Chemaine who dragged me into Hawaiian Tropic. Since winning Miss Hawaiian Tropic SXM, I've done a couple more pageants and recently won Miss Photogenic in the Queen Benelux pageant in Belgium. I was supposed to go to Miss Princess of the World last week but it interfered with my school so I couldn't go. Also they asked for a talent and I don't consider myself very talented; I can't sing or dance.

Tell us about the Top Model Contest!

The top model thing is an online contest, I didn't get into Holland's Next Top Model this time but there's always next year; I gotta represent!

What else do you do concerning modelling?

I am in a couple agencies down here and I do my best whenever I get a job from any of them which are little magazine ads or runway shows. I have done two runway shows so far since I've been here, but it's hard to get runway shows when I'm only 1.71m tall. I also work for EXPOstars where I'm a model-hostess for certain large events in Amsterdam Rai; the last event I did there was Gastech 2011.

What is your favourite part about working in the industry?

I love photo shoots, I love to get my makeup done and put on the nicest outfits.

What do you miss about SXM?

I miss my real home in SXM and miss my tan!

What did you do to prepare for Miss Hawaiian Tropic here? You looked more fabulous than ever (although you already had the hot body and everything).

I didn't prepare at all for Hawaiian Tropic. I ate a lot of food, but I have a high metabolism so I didn't gain any weight. Living here in Holland with all the crockets is my problem, so now I'm working out every day that I can.

What do you do to prepare for modelling gigs over in the Netherlands?

For pageants, I always set a week aside before the pageant to eat very healthy small things and I also go to the gym here every day after school if I don't have a lot of homework! Today I won't be going to the gym though because I have a casting for a modelling agency.

What's the difference with the modelling world here and there in the Netherlands?

It definitely is a lot easier to get modelling jobs in SXM. Here it is tougher especially if you are not the minimum height. Either way I never let that bring me down because I've noticed that I can get other modelling jobs as a commercial or face model, or any photo shoot, but runway is difficult. There are some lenient agencies, but you just have to put yourself out there and not give up. The main thing I've been working on is my portfolio because that is important for my (modelling) resume. It's the most important thing; I forgot mine once and only once and was sent out of the agency until I was prepared, but it didn't bring me down because I came back again prepared and I showed off.

You said you used to be a goth girl before, are you still into that?

Yes, yes and yes; I still love to be gothic but I've toned it down a bit. Though there are some days where I go all out. Also I used to be embarrassed about my poofy hair because I got teased in school about it. Now it is one of my assets that the agencies absolutely love about me because it is unique, so now I am proud to show off my big hair!
