In the Hotseat- Dieanna Wilson!

deainnaIt is almost St. Maarten/St. Martin Day, and it is most fitting to have this week's Hotseat about up and coming singer Dieanna Wilson who is putting out her very own CD titled "Sweet St. Maarten." The formerly shy, little girl has blossomed into a courageous performer. Get to know this "proud" St. Maartener in this week's Hotseat!

Where are you from?

Sint Maarten.

How old are you?

I am 29 years old.

What was it like growing up where you grew up?

I grew up in Sucker Garden. I had a wonderful childhood; I remember playing basketball and marbles, and eating lots of cherries then roasting the cherry nuts. Oh, yes, lots of fun with family and friends.

When did you start singing and discovering your love for music?

As long as I can remember, I have always loved singing. I remember as a child going into the bathroom with the radio and cassette and taping myself sing.

Where did you go to school? What did you study?

I attended St. Maarten Academy and I studied business.

What do you do for a career?

I work at First Caribbean International Bank as an internal auditor for the St. Maarten and St. Eustatius branches.

Do you have any hidden talents?

Other than singing, I also write my songs and I do believe I have talents I am not fully aware of at the moment. But The LORD is certainly bringing out the best in me in ways I never thought possible and I am starting to achieve and do things I never knew I could do; so I do believe there is more to be revealed.

What are your hobbies?

I love to read, cook, sing, write songs and spend time with my family and friends.

What are your goals, dreams?

My goal or dream is to sing worldwide. When people hear my music, I want it to prompt them to live a life for the Lord and to make a positive change in their community. I would also like to have my own successful business.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I see myself travelling the world making a very positive change in people through preaching and singing.

If you were to invite three people (dead or alive) to dinner, who would they be and why?

1) My late father, William Webster, who passed away some years ago. I would love to talk to him about my achievements and let him know just how much he played a part in making me the woman I am today.

2) The Queen of Holland – I would want to ask her many questions and also give some advice to her.

3) The Lord Jesus Christ; even though He is always with me, I would love to just look upon His loving face. I don't think He would have time to eat, though, because I would be all over Him.

I want the public to know that on November 10 at 8:00-10:00pm, the place to be is Rock House Restaurant at Port de Plaisance. It's going to be a night of fun and celebration. If you were born on this island, you will leave this event with a sense of pride for who you are as a St. Maartener; and if you were not born on this island but love St. Maarten and its people, you will also feel proud. Bring your St. Maarten flag because it's going to be a night of waving. There will be dancing in cultural wear and live performances by myself and others; also there are gifts to be won. Entrance is free. CDs will be on sale for $15 each. Don't miss it!!!!
