~ What does the future hold for St. Maarten? ~
What would happen if the container ships that supply all our food and other goods, simply stopped coming? If this question has never crossed your mind, then it may be about time to consider both the question and its implications.
The controlled worldwide media would have us all believe that the present recession is just a "blip" and all will be well in a year or so. However, just a cursory bit of research on the internet will reveal that the old "Empires" of the US and Europe are imploding at an alarming rate. Meanwhile, sport, soap operas and "reality TV" keep us all asleep; blissfully aware of the unfolding global problems happening right under our noses.
Isn't it time for us all to wake up?
We have enough resources on this island to make significant, beneficial changes that can improve our lives and that of our children. Our island of St. Maarten is a beautiful jewel, full of life and in living memory; we have produced all that we need to be happy, content and fulfilled here. Most of our once productive fields have reverted to scrub or been swallowed up by developments. Communities have been shattered, allowing crime to force people to lock their doors and bar their windows. It doesn't have to be this way.
This Sunday, January 8, at 6:00pm at Buccaneer Beach Bar, there will be the first of many public meetings to discuss these important matters and to offer suggestions and solutions. After the meeting, there will be screening of the movie "Thrive," which beautifully explains why we're all in this predicament and how we as a human family can creatively live together in peace.
All are welcome to contribute ideas and to volunteer your skills if you'd like to get involved in any way. It's vital to investigate these matters now, so that when those container ships do eventually stop coming, we're already prepared for a bright, abundant future.
