~ Something new and positive ~
Calling all high schools on SXM! If you don’t know what a flash mob is, it is a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, briefly perform an unusual and sometimes seemingly pointless act, often for purposes of entertainment, satire and artistic expression, and then disperse. Flash mobs are organized via telecommunications, social media or viral e-mails.
Can you see yourself doing this? Then read on. The intention for this project is that groups of high school students would videotape their routine and then place it on YouTube. Additionally, as part of the video, students of each school should create a motivational speech on why they believe their school should win the grand prize and say what they as a school will decide to do with the money. The winning school will be determined by the number of YouTube hits it receives.
The winner will be announced at an event that will first promote young talent on the island. After the winner is announced, everyone will do a big flash mob, which will be streamed live. This event, which began since January 4, will continue until March 4. Get involved! This is a great way to bring something new, different and positive to Sint Maarten.
Rules & Requirements:
-Must be a choreographed line dance; a line dance is a choreographed dance with a repeated sequence of steps.
-There must be a minimum of 30 students per group.
-Routine must be filmed and sent to YouTube channel FlashMobProject1 or facebook page flash mob project.
-Routine must be filmed on school grounds and in uniform.
-Students of each school should create a motivational speech on why they believe their school should win the grand prize and say what they as a school will decide to do with the money. Grand prize is US $1,000.
*How is this competition being judged? It is important to promote your video because the number of “likes” and “views” will help you win. Also creativity as well as the number of students will help you win (the more the better)!
